New Terminal Incorporates Latest Technology in Response to Customer Feedback

TEWKESBURY, UK – May 7, 2009 – EMS Satamatics, a division of EMS Technologies, Inc., announced today its latest terminal, the SAT-202, and expansion of its coverage to include the Inmarsat Pacific Central (PAC-C) ocean region.
 
This is EMS Satamatics’ third-generation, low-data-rate satellite terminal, following the highly successful SAT-201 terminal, which shipped in excess of 80,000 units to the transportation, logistics, energy and maritime sectors. The SAT-202 terminal can deliver benefits such as tracking, rapid alerting and mobile asset management in security and other mission-critical applications.

The system is housed in the same low-profile casing as the SAT-201 terminal and will be manufactured in three variants, providing flexibility in terminal usage. This advanced unit has been futureproof-designed to incorporate the latest technology, including a new integral 50-channel 3D GPS receiver manufactured by u-blox, a Swiss-based company.
In response to customer feedback, the SAT-202 unit now provides three inputs for sensor monitoring and one low-voltage digital output suitable for driving relays and indicators. Users can individually configure all of the inputs and outputs, while the newly expanded data-logging functions include GPS positions, transmissions and data for more than 6,500 entries.

The SAT-202 terminal will continue to operate over the highly reliable Inmarsat IsatM2M global network.  In conjunction with today’s terminal introduction, EMS Satamatics is also announcing enhanced coverage to include the Pacific Central (PAC-C) satellite located at 142 degrees West that will give improved elevation for customers in the western part of North America and the Pacific.
